My Battle or Battles family line arrived in Tidewater, Virginia around 1645. 
John was in the Surry County, Virginia militia.
William Noel Battles - Elizabeth Hopper
Noel Battles was born about 1755.
This branch of the Battles appears in the Jackson-Madison Counties of Georgia.
On Nov. 7, 1833, Noel is in St. Clair, Alabama, applying for his American Revolutionary pension;
his pension beginning on Sept. 29, 1833 at age 80 yrs. old.
The 1820 Census of St. Clair Co., AL shows Nelson, William, Samuel
and Wm. Noel, living near one another.   One of them, Elijah, is my family line.

NORTHEAST  ARKANSAS BATTLES FAMILY
This Battles lived in St. Clair Co., Alabama, and settled in 
the Northeast Arkansas counties of Sharp Co., Izard Co., Greene Co.,
Mississippi Co., Craighead Co., Ark..  A few branched out into Clay, Lawrence,
Randolph, and Jackson counties,
and in around the Southeast Missouri area of Dunklin Co . 
Some of the towns were Ashflat, Strawberry, Paragould, Monette, Buffalo Island, etc.

William Henry Battles married Mary Massalete Hatfield.  Her grandfather and the infamous Devil Anse Hatfields' grandfathers were brothers.
Their children were:
a. Henry F. Battles was murdered.  He was left in the snow to die.  Picture below is Henry Battles.

b. James Calvin Battles (my grandfather) married Ina Beatrice Anderson Battles (my grandmother).  His trade was an electrician.  She died after a tooth she had pulled earlier became infected and then she had blood poisoning.   Picture of Jim Battles below, and underneath his picture is a picture of Ina, his wife, she is in front of his work truck.  See below for James C. and Ina Beatrice Anderson Battles' children, their spouses, and some pictures.....

My Grandfather, James Calvin Battles, [one of William H. and Mary Massalettes Anderson's children], and my grandmother,  Ina Beatrice Anderson , were married on October 10, 1919, Paragould, AR.
Their children are:
1.  Lucille Olabeatrice Battles, born on Sept. 24, 1920. She married Ralph Vernon Bell.  Her picture is below and then a picture of Ralph and Lucille Bell at their 50th anniversary get-together is below.

2nd Child of J. C. and Ina Anderson Battles was Neva Sue Battles, born on April 16, 1923.  On Aug. 16, 1947 she married Haven Reed.  They had one son, Jerry Reed, and two girls, Carolyn/Carol Lynn and Patty Sue.  Here are two pics: Neva in 1st pic, and a later pic of her and Haven Reed.

Margaret Massalette Battles was born Sept. 11, 1925.  She had one child, Carlotta Gene Fleeman.  Here are a couple pictures of Aunt Fuzzy. 

The next child of James Calvin and Ina Bell Anderson Battles, was my mother, Ida Lee Battles.  She was born in Black Oak, Craighead Co., Arkansas on June 6, 1928.  She married my father, Paul Jackson Guthrie, and they had three children.  Here are some pics of them.

Helen Louise Battles was the 5th child.  She was born April 7, 1933, and died on May 15, 2009.  She was married to Gordon McDaniels for several years and had two boys, Rory and Marty McDaniels.

 
The last daughter of 6 girls born was Clora June Battles.  Clora was born August 4, 1935.  She was married to first to Steve Cooper, and later married Jim White. 

Below is a picture of her and her 1st husband, the father of their two children, Darlene and Jimmy.

They youngest child and only son of J. C. and Ina is James Houston Battles.  He was born Nov. 11, 1939.  He went into the navy at a very young age.  He married Juanita Jamael.   Below are two pics of him, one as a youngster and the other in the military.

"William Egberow, 500 acres, James City Co., Aug. 20, 1647, pg. 111, Patent Book 2. In Upper Chipoake Creek, next to land of William Rookins, deceased, and adjoining his own land...100 acres for the transportation of two persons: William Egberow and Mathew Battle.

He married Ina Bell Anderson, from Halliday, Craighead Co., Arkansas, Oct. 10, 1919.
My mother is Ida Lee Battles, she was born on June 6, 1927 in Black Oak, Craighead Co., Arkansas.

My Grandpa:* James Calvin Battles was born on Oct. 1891.
(1) 1st wife Dottie Campbell, no children.
(2) 2nd wife, my Grandmother, Ina Bell Anderson, born @1900/1901, died @1940.
(3) buried at Macey Cemetery, in Monette. No children.

Ina Bell Anderson's mother: Hattie Puckett born 1874/1877, in Arkansas.
Married in Green Co., Arkansas Sept. 4, 1892.

Hattie Puckett's father: Ezra W. D. Puckett, born @ 1832 Tenn. His father was from N. C.
Hattie Puckett's mother: Harett (UNKNOWN), born @ 1840 Kentucky.

My Mother, Ida Lee Battles, had 5 sisters and one brother.
